A 3D Stereo Portrait is a fun and innovative product that can be created
thanks to any of InSpeck’s 3D cameras and its newest EM software plugin.
A 3D Stereo Portrait consists of a 3D picture dropped on top of a regular
2D image and placed in a special lenticular frame. You may have seen
lenticular technology used in advertising for display and promotional
purposes. These images/posters seem to move when you tilt them or walk
past them. This effect has been traditionally used in expensive ad
campaigns but now, InSpeck can help you bring your own creations to life.

If you already own an InSpeck camera, you can get to producing and
selling 3D Stereo Portraits really quickly because the investment is
very small. Crystal Engraving business operators should view 3D
Stereo Portraits as an excellent source of additional revenue.
Here is the application’s simple workflow:
1- Take a picture of someone with the 3D camera and process
the image into a 3D model.
2- Choose any 2D photo/image as a background.
3- Process the 3D model and background photo/image with
InSpeck’s new plugin.
4- Print the result with any compatible photo printer.
5- Slide the photo into a special lenticular frame.
1- TAKING A PICTURE WITH THE 3D CAMERA
This is the key differentiation between traditional lenticular
usage and what InSpeck has to offer. First, taking someone’s
3D picture customizes the product. It can be a souvenir or
something done for fun, but in the end, it’s all about the person
in the portrait. This gives 3D Stereo Portraits great commercial
appeal.
Secondly, this is the first time 3D cameras are used with lenticular
technology. The effect of simulated depth that the lenticular frame
has on our 3D models is so convincing that it seems that you can reach
into the picture and touch the person. Your customers will love it.
2- CHOOSE ANY 2D BACKGROUND
Do you want the Eiffel Tower or the Satue of Liberty in the background?
How about an underwater or martian scene for the kids? You can drop the
3D picture you took in front of any 2D background. Let your imagination
run free!
3- PROCESSING
This is where InSpeck’s new EM plugin comes into play. Use it to process
both the 3D picture and the 2D background. The plugin will generate an
auto-stereoscopic image by sampling the 3D scene from multiple views.
Our processing tool also allows you to:
a) Position the 3D model with respect to the background,
b) Place the reference plane at the position that best suits the effect
you want to achieve,
c) Setup the image properties for printing, such as image size and
resolution, and sharpness of the 3D render,
d) Preview and then export the result.
4- PRINTING
You will need a standard off-the-shelf photo printer to get the right
result. We have established the parameters for some supported printer
models (contact InSpeck for a list).
5- LENTICULAR
A lenticular frame is a low cost item (usually a few dollars per unit)
that comes in various colors and designs depending on your supplier.
Once the photo is printed, slide it in a lenticular frame and see the
amazing results. Your printed photo is now a 3D Stereo Portrait! Contact
InSpeck to get in touch with lenticular frame suppliers.
