As with all of InSpeck’s 3D digitizers, the 3D Mega Capturor II is based on
white-halogen light technology, which makes it perfectly safe for humans.
In a fraction of a second, it can quickly capture a human’s 3D geometry
(shape) and texture (color) – much faster than laser-based digitizers!
Whatever the skin color or facial feature, our technology can capture it and
turn it into usable high quality data. For example, the 3D Mega Capturor II
can scan hair, which has traditionally been a problem for others. Because
of its fine texture, complex structure and many variants, hair is probably
the most difficult thing to digitize.

DIGITIZED VOLUME OPTIONS (SMALL FIELD VS. LARGE FIELD)

At the time of purchase, you must select the 3D Mega Capturor II in one
of two available camera field options. You can select the 3D Mega Capturor
II [Small Field] or the 3D Mega Capturor II [Large Field]. The small field
option is perfect for small intended areas like faces/heads as it gives
users very high-resolution data within a smaller field of view. 

The large field enables users to capture a subject roughly the size of half a
human being (i.e. from head to waist for example). This field option is
used in a Half Body or Full Body system configurations. Is it not suitable to
digitize faces/heads because while it captures a larger area, the resolution
is slightly lower than the small field.


HOW TO BUILD A 3D HEAD MODEL

Creating a complete 3D head model (360°) can be done using 2 different
methods. The first method is by taking multiple acquisitions (views) of
your subject using a single digitizer. Then, those views can be stitched
together our EM software. This software will not only generate a complete
3D model but it also provides many functions to edit and modify it to your
specifications. There are even tools to prepare your model for animation,
which can be done in your favorite 3D software package (3D Studio Max,
Softimage XSI, Maya etc). This solution only requires one digitizer so it is
very affordable, really portable and easy to use.

The second method is to configure multiple digitizers together to form a
Multi Head system. The digitizers will then fire sequentially to capture your
subject placed in the middle of the configuration. This is ideal for users
dealing with a high volume of customers because only one acquisition is
needed. Every Multi Head system comes with a calibration target that
eliminates the time-consuming registration step (view alignment). In the
end, Multi Head systems help users drastically cut down the time it takes
to go from taking the acquisition to completing the 3D model. If you have
