3D Half Body
InSpeck’s innovative solutions enable efficient production of high quality
3D models when digitizing the human body, clothes or even free form
objects. Although the 3D Half Body has been designed to primarily capture
half a person (standing) it can also be use as a cheaper and more
portable solution to put together full body models. While the 3D Full Body
system will do this in one (1) step, the 3D Half Body will do it in two (2).
The 3D Half Body can be the answer to restricted budgets. Like the 3D Full
Body, the 3D Half Body also offers a complete range of configurations.
Because the 3D Half Body has been specifically designed to digitize human
bodies, it’s an ideal solution for game development, medical research,
animation and cinematic special effects. In a very short acquisition time,
which depends on the system’s configuration (see Configurations), the 3D
Half Body captures a subject’s 3D geometry and color texture at the same
time.
Once the data is captured, use InSpeck’s EM software to merge, decimate,
morph, retarget and even export it to your favorite 3D software like 3D
Studio Max, Softimage, Maya, Lightwave, OBJ, STL, VRML just to name a
few. If you have already downloaded our trial version of EM, you can
download some examples of 3D head and body models by clicking here.

CONFIGURATIONS
What configuration is right for you? The 3D Half Body is totally scalable
and flexible to the users needs. It is available in a 1, 2 or 3-position
configuration. Each position is composed of one digitizer mounted on a
sturdy metal post, to cover half a human body. The main difference
between InSpeck’s Half Body and Full Body is that the Half Body can
digitize half a human body, including the 3D geometry and color texture,
at the same time. For full body models, two acquisitions are needed (one
covering from the waist up to the head and another from the waist down to
the feet) and then both half-body models can be registered and merged
together using InSpeck’s EM software. In order to get the best possible
model, InSpeck suggests that users digitize the subject’s head and hands
separately. These body parts can be attached to the body in EM.
One Position [1P]: This is a perfect solution for projects where a single
view of half the subject is needed. This configuration is not recommended
for creating 360° models.
Two Positions [2P]: The Half Body [2P] is the perfect entry-level solution.
It can be used as the most inexpensive and portable complete body
scanning system available today. It also has the fastest capture time,
which can be less than one second! The two-position configuration is useful
in cases where the front and back views are the crucial areas to be
captured. The small gap between the front view and the back view will be
closed in by EM’s advanced interpolation (geometry and texture) tool. This
best-selling system is by far the most cost-effective and portable solution
for digitizing full body models.
Three Positions [3P]: This solution covers 360° of half a human body. As
for the Half Body [2P], only two acquisitions are needed to capture the
data and then, the rest of the work is done in EM. Users will save time due
to the fact that there is no registration/alignment necessary because of the
calibration. Note: Calibration only needs to be done when the configuration
setup is changed.
FEATURES
- Laptop Compatibility: All InSpeck products are now FireWire
compatible, which means faster data transfer time and laptop
compatibility.
- Scalability: If your budget is restricted at the initial purchase,
you can always start with a smaller configuration and add other positions
at a later date when new budget is available. Can be upgraded to a Full
Body system.
- Portability: Each digitizer comes in it’s own sturdy carrying case
and it can easily be carried by hand.
- Easy assembly: Armed with only a screwdriver and a few Allen
Keys, assemble the system in a few minutes.
- Enhanced geometry and texture: With the Mega line of
digitizers, InSpeck is able to offer 3D digitizers with megapixel
capabilities. The 3D Mega Capturor is the first digitizer on the market
that can acquire over 1.3 million sampled points at each acquisition.
- Hair: InSpeck’s unique combination of hardware and proprietary
software gives its digitizers the distinction of being the only ones on the
market that can efficiently and correctly digitize hair. This feature clearly
distinguishes InSpeck’s product line from the rest.
- Safety: InSpeck’s technology uses white halogen light in all its
digitizers, which makes them completely safe for humans.
