Head System
Faces and heads are always interesting to work with because of the
diversity of their shape, color and size. These wide-ranging features,
although many, can be digitally acquired with InSpeck systems in mere
seconds. Faces and heads can be digitized with a single 3D Capturor
[Small Field] or by using multiple units configured together to work as
a Multi Head system.
A clear advantage provided by these systems is that acquisition time is
reduced from a few minutes (single) to a few seconds (Multi Head).
Combining multiple units together allows users to digitize some subjects
otherwise impossible with a single machine. Children, facial expressions
and animals are all fine examples of this situation.

HAIR AND SKIN COLOR
HAIR: Because of its many variants, hair is probably the most difficult
thing to digitize. Hair can come in all different shapes and sizes and can
wreak havoc on your system. It is very random and usually thinly stranded
together, making it impossible for the digitizer to “see” all the hairs. The
Capturor can overcome this problem. Our developers have worked on a
special technique that enables our digitizers to capture hair! Dark, light,
straight or curly: gone are the days when models had to wear shower caps.
SKIN COLOR: Thanks to the contrast adjuster feature on our machines,
you can digitize any color skin. Regardless of the model’s skin color, the
texture acquisition is excellent with any of our digitizers.
WHAT CONFIGURATION IS RIGHT FOR YOU?
One of InSpeck’s digitizer’s great advantages is their configuration
flexibility due to its Multi Head systems. Users can either use them in
single or multiple camera configurations.
SINGLE: With a single 3D Capturor configuration, many “shots” have to
taken. Each of these shots must have some overlap between each
other to permit their registration/alignment. Registration is in fact
automatic, but the user must specify the initial points to begin the
process more efficiently.
MULTI: A multiple digitizer configuration consists of 2 or more 3D Capturor
digitizers linked together. A single shot is needed to capture data
and it is not necessary to have overlap between cameras because
of the calibration process that is done before digitizing. There is
also no need for registration/alignment due to previous
calibration. Note: Calibration only needs to be done when
configuration setup is changed.
After the acquisition, the process remains the same. As the user generates
the geometry and texture, he should expect the same results with either
method. The difference is that the time saved with a Multi Head
configuration is far greater than with a single unit. Finally, if the user is
unsure of his future digitizing needs, a modular approach consists in
purchasing one digitizer at a time and scale up. Then, you can either use
your digitizers together or individually.

SPECIFIC CONFIGURATION EXAMPLES
Expressions: Ideally you need two digitizers to cover a person’s face from
ear to ear. Otherwise with a single digitizer you would need three views and
then stitch them together. Thanks to the calibration target, the two views
are already aligned together making the merging process a breeze.
Acquisition time: Less than one (1) second.
The Mega Capturor DF is also a good choice for digitizing faces/heads. The
added advantage is the versatility that the DF procures users with more
versatility. Digitize faces/heads with the DF’s [Small Field] camera
and up to half a body using the [Large Field] camera. Users claim that the
DF’s versatility gives them the freedom to digitize a wider range of
subjects/objects without the hassle of having to purchase two digitizers.
Partial heads: With four digitizers users can easily get a full head without
the top. Acquisition time: Less than three (3) seconds.
Complete 360° heads: With six digitizers you possess the most
comprehensive configuration possible to digitize heads because all areas
of the head are covered. Acquisition time: Less than five (5) seconds.
