Torso System Digitizing a torso can be a challenge without the proper tools. When digitizing a torso, that’s the part of your body below your neck and above your waist, the most effective products will be the Capturor [Medium Field]. Note; the [Medium Field] is not a standard option. Contact InSpeck for technical information. A clear advantage provided by these systems is that acquisition time is reduced from a few minutes (single) to a few seconds (Multi Head). The speed users get by combining multiple units together allows them to digitize a torso even though the subject’s breathing can deform it. This would otherwise be impossible with a single digitizer. WHAT CONFIGURATION IS RIGHT FOR YOU? One of InSpeck’s digitizer’s great advantages is their configuration flexibility due to its Multi Head systems. Users can either use them in single or multiple camera configurations. SINGLE: One digitizer can effectively be used to capture one view of the torso. However, it quickly becomes difficult to get good results if a complete torso acquisition is needed as the subject cannot hold his breath during the few minutes it would take to capture the many views required. MULTI: A multiple digitizer configuration consists of 2 or more 3D Capturor digitizers linked together. A single shot is needed to capture data and it is not necessary to have overlap between cameras because of the calibration process that is done before digitizing. There is also no need for registration/alignment due to previous calibration. Note: Calibration only needs to be done when configuration setup is changed. Users will appreciate the time saved using Multi Head configurations and the scalable aspect of InSpeck’s systems. If the user has budget issues, InSpeck offers a modular approach consisting of purchasing one digitizer at a time and scaling up afterwards. Another benefit for users is that not only can they use their digitizers together but also individually depending on their projects. SPECIFIC CONFIGURATION EXAMPLES Partial: Two digitizers would be ideal to capture the front or the back of a torso in a single acquisition. Otherwise, in theory, with a single digitizer you would need three views and then stitch them together. However, as mentioned above, due to the subject’s breathing this approach is not practical. Thanks to the calibration target, the two views are already aligned together making the merging process a breeze. Acquisition time: Less than one (1) second. Complete 360° torso: When a complete torso is needed, a configuration of four digitizers will capture 360° in a single acquisition. Acquisition time: Less than three (3) seconds.
